With limited knowledge of Reggae music, and a limited record collection, Denise Dorb hosted "Reggae Sounds" on Saturday March 17th from Noon to 2pm. While the listenership increased, so did the record collection, mostly from listeners! WITR was actively involved in bringing Reggae bands to Rochester. In the early 1980s "Reggae Sounds" was expanded to 4 hours from Noon to 4pm Saturdays. In 1985 the shows hours were changed to 5-9pm Saturdays, the listenership doubled with the 'prime time' change. In 1993 "Mr. Bill" took over hosting "Reggae Sounds" in its current time slot from 4 to 10pm Saturdays. The listenership continues to increase and WITR and MR. Bill are very active in brining Reggae music to Rochester. Now 20 years strong, "Reggae Sounds" is the longest continuous running Reggae radio program in North America. "Reggae Sounds" incorporates Reggae, Calypso, Soca, Dance Hall and Root Rock in to a 6 hour block of pure listening pleasure.
